If the applicant is successful at our interview stage, we also interview their previous stakeholder, line manager or client.  We have conducted circa 10,000 referencing calls, and Human Experts only works with those candidates rated as "Excellent" or "Exceptional".  The combination of our CV review, interview and stakeholder review results in 98% of applicants failing our screening process.

We have identified top performers through tens of thousands of hours of hard work and elbow grease.  There is no substitute for hard work, we haven't used AI to build our talent pool, we simply built our insight, painstakingly,  over time.

We review each applicant's CV for the following criteria, taking each element in the wider context:

  • Consistency and Duration - Have they worked in similar roles, advising clients with consistent objectives and business models.

  • Brands - Which companies have the freelancers worked at.  We know which brands have a reputation for excellence.

  • Industry Relevance - Many of our clients are Banks, FMIs, Clearing Houses, Exchanges, Broker-Dealers, Financial Data Businesses, Fintechs, Wealth Managers, Buy-side and Hedge Funds.  These businesses need specialist skills, and adjacent knowledge can sometimes be completely irrelevant.

  • Grammar & Spelling - It's okay to rely on spellcheck, it's not okay to send a CV with errors.

  • Education - We never discount anyone for lack of education, but a Great Education matters.    

  • Gaps - Gaps can be a vital part of a healthy life, but we make sure we know what the gap is, and evidence it if needed.

Interviews are notoriously unreliable indicators of success.  Google studied their global interviews and found zero correlation between predicted success at interviews, and eventual performance.  Google analyse data to a very high standard, this study confirms our real-world experience of candidates with great CVs not living up to the promise once hired.

We use our interview to check the Contractor, Consultant or Freelancer's organisation skills, preparation prior to the meeting, engagement in Human Experts high-quality model, interest in client engagement, and commitment to work at the highest standard.  Freelancers who are disorganised, uninterested or not committed to passing vetting do not make the grade.
